Windows 8.1 RTM is now available for download from file-sharing services, so many users are already running it right now, even though the public launch will only take place in October.

As you probably know by now, Microsoft has implemented a series of changes in Windows 8.1 RTM, including a new default wallpaper called “Harmony,” plus some other desktop backgrounds available via the Personalization screen.

In addition, the company has finally made the Start screen animated wallpapers available for all users, while right-clicking the Start button lets you sign out or shut down the computer.

Windows 8.1 is set to debut on October 18 for all users, but Windows 8 adopters will be allowed to download it one day earlier from the Store. The update will be available free of charge, but there’s still no word on pricing for stand-alone copies.
