Tech support scams are on the rise these days, and it’s no secret that neither Microsoft nor the police can stop this. But when you come across such ads, it’s easy to wonder how come companies looking to hire tech support scammers escape unpunished.

A company in New Zealand is looking for people who can “tell users all computers are infected” and spend “many hours on the phone that rings,” but also to be able to “write down credit card numbers and details most clearly” and “not put off by stupid people.”

Basically, the company called Powershop New Zealand is looking for scammers that would call you, tell you that your computer is infected, and convince you to let them clean it in exchange for a fee.

“And best news! we train you Technical Department on windows computer like msconfig and eventvwr. You have great bonus ($) for you when you get users’ bank and credit card details when fix the windows computer,” the job description explains.

Not to mention that, if you want to get this job, you must give up on ethics, as the employer states that work with hard problems with sweaty people in a close team.

It might sound like a joke, but it’s not. This company is indeed trying to hire scammers and not developers, as they said in an interview with The Register. We never knew that developers must have special skills to convince you to give away credit card details…
