The first beta for CrystalDiskInfo 5.0 has just been released today, and judging from the short list of modifications, it is very likely to see a stable version really soon.

The two changes announced by the developer aim to improve the functionality of the application. One of them notifies of improved Alert Sound support while the other enhances the support for USB disks.

Besides these two entries, the developer also announces that the language file is now fixed, so volunteers can proceed to translating it.

CrystalDiskInfo is designed as a simple and free solution for monitoring the health of storage devices based on S.M.A.R.T. information. It also supports some external USB disks.

The full change log for the application can be viewed on this page. CrystalDiskInfo is also available as a portable download (no need to install it) here.
