Google Drive received an update recently, to version 1.9, and packs two new features and a couple of fixes.

One of the fresh features touches on the web part of the application and refers to offline access to your most recent Google documents, as long as you’re using Chrome browser.

The second feature relates strictly to the Google Drive folder on your computer. Starting this build, you can share your files straight from the context menu as well as view the documents on drive.google.com.

The sharing function comes with a set of options that allow you to make a file accessible only for specific people. Alternatively, you can change the visibility options and offer public access or just the persons that have the link to it. In the last two cases, no sign-in is required.

As far as improvements go, the transfer rate has been improved by up to 50% and even more if many small files are handled.

The developer changed the triggers for the delete confirmation dialogs and restricted them only to the folders created in Drive, Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and drawings.

As a result, the false positives that popped up when Microsoft Word would delete the temporary files have been eliminated.
