Microsoft’s Reactive Extensions (Rx) library, which enables developers to build asynchronous and event-based programs starting from observable reactive data sequences and LINQ-style query operators, has just been updated.

The latest release of Rx v2.0 comes with support for the Windows 8 platform, as well as for other OSes from the company, including Windows 7, Windows Phone 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

Rx v2.0 can be used to target .NET Framework 4, .NET Framework 4.5, .NET Framework 4.5 for Windows Store apps, Silverlight 5 and Windows Phone 7.1 platforms.

Microsoft has made the new flavor of the library available for download in line with the release of Visual Studio 2012 RTM and Windows 8 RTM. Specific info on how to install it can be found in this blog post.
