The latest Winamp does not show new features, but improves the functionality of the player through the set of fixes it brings to the table.

Winamp 5.623 repairs MP3 decoding errors at the end of the file, which should eliminate CD burning errors. The AAC decoder also been adjusted to detect parametric stereo for AAC files created with older encoders.

Crashing would occur whenever certain malformed AVI files would be played. This is no longer the case in the new release. Moreover, the development team fixed the multithreaded race condition, which now supports thread-safe transfers.

Additional improvements include elimination of memory leaks with MP4 and FLAC decoders as well as an updated Fraunhofer AAC Encoder (version 3.2.4) and Jump to File Extra (JTFE) plug-in (version 1.2.5).
