No more Lite edition, Pro version free of charge

FeedDemon, one of the most appreciated feed readers on Windows, has reached its last version. The developer will no longer update it with new features or repairs. The reason is Google shutting down the Reader service on July 1.

Since he will no longer provide updates, developer Nick Bradbury has decided to offer the application absolutely free of charge to all users, no strings attached. As such, users of the Lite version will benefit from all the advantages of the Pro edition, which can be seen here.

The only modification available in FeedDemon 4.5 is the removal of Google Reader synchronization and it is no longer serving advertisements.

In lack of feed synchronization, all subscriptions are converted to local feeds. This has no impact on the items in Google Reader, but the developer warns that you might see duplicates because Google’s service identifies feed posts differently; however, this should be fixed in a short time.

Mind that the service shuts down in 10 days, though, so you settle for an alternative as soon as possible.

Although the application is now officially discontinued, it can still fit the bill quite nicely for desktop users that do not feel the need to access the feeds online. It remains a product rich in features and easy to customize.
