Security reasons also on the list of showstoppers

Postponing the release of a new stable version for Firefox is official: Jonathan Nightingale, Senior Director of Firefox Engineering, has announced the decision on Mozilla’s blog.

One of the reasons at the root of this choice is Microsoft’s release of their monthly update, which may have a negative impact on the web browser.

This has happened in the past, and Firefox engineers want to analyze and eliminate the disruptions it may cause before pushing the new browser to users.

The second reason is security.

Firefox development team is currently waiting for ZDI (Zero day Initiative) about a vulnerability that might affect the new version of the browser. This way, they can include a fix prior to the release.

It looks like the third showstopper, a bug causing problem with the graphics driver blocklist, has been eliminated.
