Microsoft has just announced that Judson Althoff, a former Oracle group vice president for worldwide alliances and video president of global platform and distribution sales, has joined the company to lead the North American Sales & Marketing division.

Althoff will take the role of president of the aforementioned unit and of corporate vice president on March 29, 2013, and will report directly to Kevin Turner, chief operating officer at the Redmond-based technology giant.

“Judson has a track record of successfully developing, growing and leading global sales organizations with a culture of execution excellence. Judson’s proven leadership will enable us to continue to excel in delivering the best devices and services experience to our customers including businesses and consumers,” Turner said in a statement.

Prior to joining Oracle, Judson Althoff was in charge of several key roles in EMC Corporation, so he’s apparently the right man for the job at Microsoft North America.
