Google released a major update for the stable channel of their browser, Chrome, incrementing the version number to 25. For Windows and Linux, the build number is 25.0.1364.97 while for Mac it is 25.0.1364.99.

Among the highlights for Google Chrome 25, there are improvements as far as extension management and security is concerned. As such, extensions installed by third-party applications using external deployment options are disabled by default and users have to explicitly enable them through a prompt screen alerting them of the new addition.

Also highly important is the JavaScript Web Speech API, which means that speech recognition can be added to web pages.

Additional modifications available in this release refer to improved support for HTML5 time and date inputs and better WebGL error handling as well as security fixes. Developers have not been forgotten as there are plenty of new features for them.
