Google Chrome’s automatic update mechanism was quite busy this week as the web browser received updates for its Android version as well as the beta and stable channels.

The stable release has received security updates as a result of the vulnerabilities uncovered by Sergey Glazunov at Google’s Pwnium contest.

Google Chrome beta has been updated to build 18.0.1025.54, available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame platforms, and features a handful of fixes.

As such, installing or updating the browser should no longer reset Google search preferences and accelerated compositing on 3D CSS is no longer triggered when using swiftshader (the performance hit on low-end stations may be too drastic).

Other repairs refer to crashes of the GPU process on Windows or failure of the game Bastion to work on Mac. More fixes targeted the “Back” button, which continued to cause frequent hangs.
