The beta channel for Google Chrome has been updated to build 18.0.1025.56, but only Windows, Linux and Chrome Frame platforms got to maintain the incremented revision number. The development team retracted the update, as Flash was running incorrectly.

Until Flash problems are solved, Mac users will continue to use version 18.0.1025.54 of the web browser.

The major changes in the latest build are related to GPU acceleration. Hardware acceleration of the Canvas 2D is disabled by default, the user having the possibility to turn it back on from “about:flags”.

Also disabled is the image transport surface on Windows 7 and Vista. The accelerated content is now rendered directly to the window by the GPU process.
