Gameloft first teased the new Ice Age Adventure game for Microsoft platforms a couple of weeks ago, while the company introduced the first Windows Phone version last week.

The Windows 8.1 version however has gotten to see daylight earlier today, bringing the same addictive gameplay on PCs and tablets running Microsoft’s new operating system.

The new adventure game includes the same well-known Ice Age characters, namely Sid, many and Diego, and calls for players to complete a number of challenges, such as match-3 games, fast-paced runner missions, and battles against enemies.

“Scrat's nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn has world-changing consequences. Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd are suddenly at the edge of a continent that's cracking wide open! Now they're separated from home and family while floating out to sea!” the game description reads.

“Sid's no match for this danger alone; he needs your help to explore the unknown, rescue his friends Manny and Diego, and save every animal in the herd from menacing dinosaurs and more!”

One of the best things about this new title is the freeware license which enables all those running Windows 8.1 to play the game without paying a single cent. As mentioned, it supports all Windows 8 versions on the market, including the RT SKU that’s powering a wide array of devices, among which Microsoft’s very own Surface RT and Surface 2.

Overall, this is quite a great addition to the Windows Store, so go ahead and download Ice Age Adventures for Windows 8.1 to give it a try right away.
