14 DAY TRIAL // Internet Explorer 11 is bundled into the new Windows Blue OS, the first major revamp for Windows 8 that’s very likely to see daylight sometime this summer.
As older Internet Explorer versions, including 6 and 8, remain surprisingly popular these days, Microsoft is trying to make IE11 the best choice for everyone, introducing a set of new features supposed to help websites render properly in the new browser.
According to a new report by Neowin.net, the current version of IE11 packed into this early build of Windows Blue comes with a “Like Gecko” command that emulates Firefox and forces the website to display the version usually loaded for Mozilla’s browser.
While this move could be a bit surprising, Microsoft’s decision pretty much makes sense, especially because the older versions of Internet Explorer do not include the newest technologies available in newer releases, so they could incorrectly display some websites.
Of course, this is only a very early version of IE11, so lots of things could change until the full version of Blue hits the shelves.
