Use hand gestures and voice commands on Windows Media Center

Kinect for Media Center (priced $6.99/€5) is a new program specially designed to allow you control over Windows Media Center’s interface through hand gestures and voice commands.

The set of hand gestures is pretty basic, but covers all movements required to navigate through the menus as well as skip to a different area. Commands are aware of the hand speed, and, as such, faster movement will skip over more items. However, as you can see from the video above, more ample gestures are required, so air flow in the room should be highly improved.

The amount of voice commands is quite generous. These are optimized to eliminate accidents caused by audio interference from Media Center.

The application can be used only with Kinect for Windows sensor, as per device’s EULA, so you may not use it with Kinect for Xbox 360. Unfortunately there is no trial version available.
