Microsoft is working to revamp the PC settings screen

Screenshots showing Windows 10 build 10031 reached the web a few days ago, and it appears that Microsoft is working not only to improve the Start menu and the Start screen with new options but also to enhance the PC settings screen, which at some point could replace Control Panel completely.

In a new leaked screenshot that we've come across today there are several new configuration settings, as well as renamed sections that make a bit more sense in terms of organizations and usability.

The new multitasking category allows you to enable and disable the snap effect, but at the same time, there are also a few new settings that “allow the system to suggest companion windows when using Snap.”

There are also additional desktops options, which give you the power to configure the Alt+Tab behavior and configure the operating system to show windows that are open either on all desktops or only on the one where the app has been launched.

Tablet mode has also been enhanced with new options and the same PC settings screen provides easy access to all of them. Options to turn on tablet mode were already available in build 9926, but starting with 10031, users are also allowed to configure how the feature works when the device wants to switch modes.

Right now, it’s not yet clear if build 10031 is the one that could be shipped to users, but more information should be provided this week, when Microsoft is likely to release it.
