Windows binaries signed by The Document Foundation

The stable version for LibreOffice 3.6.1 has rolled out today, and it is bit-for-bit identical to the last release candidate.

As such, users with RC 2 installed need not reinstall since they already have the latest build.

However, there are some changes as far as the Windows distribution is concerned. First on the list, the binaries are digitally signed by The Document Foundation. Also, LibreOffice for this platform is an international build that lets you choose the preferred working language.

Windows users with LibreOffice prior to version 3.4.5 on the system are advised to uninstall it in order to make the upgrade. They can also move to build 3.4.5 first and make the upgrade from there, otherwise the procedure may fail.

The uninstall recommendation goes for users with OpenOffice on the system as well, because the same file type associations are registered.
