Today, McAfee announced the availability of the 2014 product line, which includes McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security and McAfee Total Protection.

It seems like, with the development of the 2014 line of security products, the focus fell on delivering improved performance and more efficient usage of system resources. As such, the development advances should be noticeable while using the products.

The developer informs that McAfee AM Core, the scanning engine introduced in the previous major update, has received tweaks that should lead to increased detection abilities and a faster (thanks to smaller threat signature files) and more efficient check of the computer against malware, including zero-day threats.

“By continually enhancing the core security components of McAfee’s consumer portfolio, we are working to ensure our customers stay safe from the barrage of pervasive online threats and in a way that maintains the speed and performance of their devices,” said Alan LeFort, vice president of consumer product management at McAfee.
