Microsoft keeps improving Bing Maps on a regular basis, rolling out new aerial views for several locations across the world.

This time, the company has added no less than 270 terabytes of data which, according to Microsoft’s estimates, should be enough to fill 100,000 DVDs.

“Bing Maps just added nearly 270 terabytes worth of new “bird’s eye” aerial imagery from around the world. (That’s enough to fill about 100,000 DVDs.) The additional imagery adds new depth to map views of locations from Toledo to Rome,” Microsoft explained.

“You can also now search inside over 4,700 points of interest using Bing Maps, making it easy to find your way in malls, airports, amusement parks, sports venues and more.”

Bird’s Eye scenes from around the world have become a priority for Microsoft when it comes to Bing Maps improvements, so the company has until now published no less than 1,452,958 sq km (560,990 sq. mi), or half a petabyte of data, of this kind of imagery.
