Microsoft still struggles to make Bing a much more powerful rival for Google, so the company today announced what it calls Bing Boards, a new experiment that focuses on images, videos, and links.

Complementary to web search results, the Bing Boards are displayed in the middle column of the search engine and are more like a slideshow comprising captions and content details.

“Bing Boards are visual collections of images, videos and links that tell a story from a unique point of view. They are created by people who are passionate about the topics they blog, write or talk about – not companies or algorithms,” the company explained in a blog post.

At this point, it’s only working with a small team of food and lifestyle bloggers and experts, but the company is looking into ways to make the feature available to third parties as well in the near future.
