Microsoft is reportedly trying to clear out Surface RT inventories with several discounts, but it appears that the company has adopted a similar strategy for its top-of-the-range device as well.

The tech giant announced today a $100 (€75) price cut for the Surface Pro, but according to its official online store, the offer is only available for a limited time.

The 64 GB version of the Surface Pro can now be yours for only $799 (€600), while the 128 GB model is available for $899 (€675). Both Best Buy and Staples have rolled out the same discount too.

Word is that Microsoft is preparing the second-generation Surface tablet, which also includes updates for the Pro version. Hardware upgrades and Windows 8.1 are expected to be on the spec list of the new device, but no confirmed details are available for the time being.
