Microsoft goes on with the development work for a new Windows 10 build, and even though we’re only a few weeks away from the introduction of a new Technical Preview, nobody knows the version number of this new release.

While some rumors suggested earlier this week that build 9913 could be the one to ship to users in late January, Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul said in a tweet that the next build number was yet to be decided on, as the company continues issuing daily builds until the January 21 event.

Now BuildFeed has confirmed that 9918 is the latest version included in the “awesome” branch, which, according to some clues rolled out by Gabriel Aul himself, could be the channel bringing us the January Technical Preview.

At this point, Microsoft doesn’t want to comment on the January Technical Preview, but people close to the development work said that a new build could ship soon after the January 21 event in Redmond.

At this event, the company is expected to share more information on its Windows 10 work, as well as details about Windows Phone 10, Spartan browser, and Cortana on the desktop.

Redmond says that the consumer experience on Windows 10 would be the center focus of the event, so there’s no doubt that the company is also getting ready to unveil some new features as well, including a working version of Cortana which could be part of the JTP.
