It’s not a secret anymore that Microsoft is planning to develop a Metro version of its Office productivity suite, but the company has once again hinted that such a flavor is currently in the works.

Kevin Turner, the company’s chief operating officer, discussed Microsoft’s plans for the next 12 months, hinting among others that a Metro build of Office could be released very soon.

A presentation slide displayed during Turner’s keynote at Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 revealed that “Office Windows 8 Store Apps” are a priority for the software giant, so expect Word and Excel to get Metro flavors in the next 12 months.

No specifics have obviously been provided, but bringing Office in the Modern UI seems to be a pretty important plan for the Redmond-based tech giant, especially as it tries to boost sales of its new Windows 8 operating system.
