Microsoft has recently launched Hyperlapse, an application that allows its users to create timelapse videos on Windows and Windows Phone, and now the engineers who worked on the project start getting awards for their involvement.

Johannes Kopf has recently won the so-called 2015 ACM SIGGRAPH Significant New Researcher Award for his work on hyperlapse technology, which was the foundation of Hyperlapse software, with Microsoft saying that this is one of the most prestigious awards that early-career researchers who rapidly become industry leaders in computer graphics research can win.

"I can still remember thinking years ago as a young student, 'Wow, it would be so awesome to be part of this community.' At that time, I never dreamed of getting this award," Kopf says.

Johannes Kopf joined Microsoft Research in 2008, after having previously graduated from the University of Konstanz in Germany. He started work on computer graphics when he was only 12 years old, he recalls.

Microsoft Hyperlapse is a tool that allows you to create timelapse videos on Windows, giving you a rich feature set and intuitive UI to easily complete each project. A wizard guides you throughout the entire process, and you’re provided with several options, including standard and advanced smoothing for better transition between the frames.

If you haven’t already tried it, you can always download Microsoft Hyperlapse for Windows, or install the Hyperlapse Mobile version for Windows Phone.
