It’s no secret that Microsoft is betting big on the Indian market, and the AppFest coding marathons are the living proof that the company is trying to get closer to local developers.

According to a report by SiliconIndia, all these efforts are now paying off, as Microsoft has been crowned the second most popular tech company in the country.

Unfortunately for the Redmond-based Windows maker, Google is the clear leader, but Microsoft is already gaining more fans thanks to its local efforts.

The company currently employs about 5,000 people in India and has managed to open offices in 13 different cities across the territory since it first stepped into the country in 1990.

Unfortunately, it’s not all only milk and honey for the Indian division of Microsoft, as three high-profile executives are expected to leave the company in the coming months.
