Most Forefront users are migrating towards rivals’ solutions

Microsoft announced last week that it decided to discontinue several Forefront security products, mostly because other applications are already integrating their features.

While the decision pretty much makes sense, customers aren't choosing the new Microsoft solutions, but instead prefer to purchase another similar product. In most cases, one that's manufactured by a Microsoft rival.

“We are recommending [customers] to move onto other vendors. If they have lost Forefront, then they should look at security-focused vendors such as McAfee, Symantec and Sophos because [those products] are their bread and butter,” Alfie Boucherd, Microsoft business manager at security reseller Caretower, was quoted as saying by channelweb.co.uk.

Microsoft axed a total of five products and, as of December 1, 2012, they will no longer be available for purchase. Support will continue to be offered though, but for more information, check out this story.
