Microsoft has just released a brand new app for Windows Phone devices that allows users to easily become “social journalists” and publish news or different stories with their smartphones.

The intuitively called Social News Beta is a freeware application that comes with easy-to-use features which allow you to share posts (which Microsoft refers to as “stories”) with a Windows Phone device, wherever you are across the world.

Once you post a new story, it's immediately available to everyone around you, based on a map that displays the latest published articles. This way, you can easily find out what's happening around you, no matter your location or native language.

The application also comes with a built-in search option to look for “interesting local events using the map view or tune in for the most liked and commented top stories or just browse what your friends have been writing,” as Microsoft explained on the official listing of the app in the Windows Phone store.

At first glance, the app is not at all too difficult to use, and given the fact that it comes with Facebook integration, it might really appeal to many Windows Phone users who like to post anything and everything happening in their lives.

Obviously, it's available free of charge and can be downloaded on any Windows Phone device, but keep in mind that it's still in beta, so a number of bugs might still be experienced.
