Microsoft’s very own Minesweeper is one of the most popular games on the newly released Windows 8 platform, as it brings an old yet famous game right in the Metro UI of your new computer.

The game has just received an update that comes with plenty of improvements, including daily challenge leaderboards and a setting to enable and disable puzzle rotation using the mouse click-and-drag option.

In addition, starting this month, all daily challenges are displaying their difficult ratings, according to the official release notes, while the new build also packs a bunch of bug fixes, performance optimizations and visual improvements.

As usual, the update is being delivered through the integrated Windows Store, regardless of whether you’re running the x86, the x64 or ARM build of Windows 8.
