Microsoft has just announced a new series of mice for notebook owners that’s supposed to provide enhanced comfort and portability at a very affordable price.

Codenamed Wireless Mobile Mouse 1850, the new mouse is very light, Microsoft guarantees, although the company hasn’t provided any weight information.

On the other hand, the device is only 3.95 inches (100 mm) long and 2.29 inches (58.1 mm) wide and has been specifically designed for laptop users who want to work on their computers on the go.

It can be used by both righties and lefties, the company also adds, and comes with a nano transceiver that can be either plugged in the laptop or stowed in the mouse for enhanced portability.

“The Wireless Mobile Mouse 1850 uses 2.4GHz wireless technology for a reliable wireless connection to your PC with a built-in mini USB transceiver. You can leave the transceiver plugged into your PC or hide it away inside the mouse,” Microsoft says.

Just as expected, the mouse has been designed to work on the newest Windows versions, including Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and even RT 8.1, but it also provides support for Macintosh computers.

The Wireless Mobile Mouse 1850 will go on sale this month in five colors, Coal Black, Flame Red, Orchid Pink, Pantone Purple, and Wool Blue, and will have a retail price of $14.95 (€10.75).
