14 DAY TRIAL // Redmond is said to be working on several important changes for the upcoming Windows versions, including some updates concerning its mobile platforms.
Microsoft insider MSFTnerd wrote on Twitter that Terry Myerson, who’s now in charge of the operating system division within the company, has decided to “slowly merge Windows RT and Windows Phone over the next two years.”
It turns out that Microsoft plans to use the GDR update cycle to deliver these improvements to users, with the first such release expected to be launched in early 2014.
At the same time, the tipster writes that “Windows will be developer in 2 separate but synced branches, namely Windows for SoC and Windows for datacenters, with the latter to come in two different versions (x86 and ARM).”
Of course, Microsoft hasn’t yet commented on these rumors, but since it’s not the first time when people talk about a Windows Phone – Windows RT merger, there might really be some truth behind these words.
