Redmond republishes old ad without Nokia branding

Lumia 930 remains one of Microsoft’s flagships currently available for purchase, but this particular device was one of the models developed together with Nokia, the Finnish phone manufacturer whose brand no longer exists after it was bought by the Redmond-based giant.

Microsoft dropped the Nokia brand and launched its very own Microsoft Lumia a few weeks ago, and it was only a matter of time until the company started focusing exclusively on its very own devices.

But since the 930 remains a flagship, Redmond cannot abandon it completely, so what it can do is republish older commercials and push Nokia out of them by removing the old branding from the videos.

This is what happened not long ago with the Nokia 930 ad that was first launched under the Nokia brand, but now Microsoft took the original video, deleted all scenes where the Nokia logo was showing up and republished the resulting clip on YouTube.

The result is pretty much obvious, so we get pretty much the same video as before, but without any Nokia logo on the phones. Instead, there’s a blank phone, more like a dummy, that doesn’t have any logo on it, so not even the Microsoft branding is being used.

Unsurprisingly, some users weren’t really pleased with such decision, especially Nokia fans who criticized Microsoft for its attempt to completely get rid of the Finnish brand.

“MSFT is going downhill fast. People shouldn't say RIP Nokia, they need to be saying RIP Microsoft,” one of them posted.

Obviously, this was something to be expected, so hit play in the video below and get ready for even more changes in Microsoft’s Lumia lineup.
