Microsoft has revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2014 that Windows 8 is really boosting sales of touch-capable devices, with existing statistics pointing to a pretty decent performance in the United States.

According to Joe Belfiore, VP operating systems at Microsoft, 40 percent of the Windows 8 devices sold in the United States are touch-capable, which means that more customers are making the move to this kind of interaction with a computer.

The company is recording more than 4 million app downloads per day in the Windows Store, which again confirms that the number of high-quality apps released to users is growing bigger and more Windows 8 adopters are pleased with the software they can download.

At the same time, Belfiore also confirmed that Microsoft indeed sold 200 million Windows 8 licenses since launch, which means that the modern operating system isn’t actually so disappointing as compared to Windows 7.
