Microsoft has just announced that Outlook.com users in North America are now capable of chatting with their Skype contacts straight from the mail platform, with more countries to get the feature in the near future.

Skype for Outlook.com is now available in the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, France, Canada, and the United States, Microsoft said in today’s announcement.

“We believe that your email should work with things you already use. Outlook.com already connects with your Facebook, Skype, and Google friends. Now that you can make Skype video calls from Outlook.com, it's even easier to stay connected to the people you care about most,” the company noted.

Microsoft is working to make Outlook.com more of a social service, so expect even more similar improvements to be announced in the coming months, together with Skype availability in new countries.
