Redmond worked with Sony Pictures to create the search engine of the future

The new Robocop film, which is opening this week, lets you have a short glimpse at what the Bing search engine could look like in 2028, the year when the action in the movie actually takes place.

Of course, since we’re talking about a Bing version that would be available 14 years from now, Microsoft hasn’t tried to create a futuristic concept of the search engine, but rather a more realistic design that could actually see daylight at some point in the future.

“The solution was to have elements continuously scrolling in and search results updating in a living animated way. We also envisioned a 3D display with the most important things in the foreground. As we know that digital data is going to continue to explode at an exponential rate, we called for the search results tally to be constantly updating as new information arrives,” Microsoft noted.
