The Surface Pro 3 is already available for pre-order and Microsoft continues promoting it as the best laptop replacement out there, pointing to the powerful hardware hiding underneath the Vapor Magnesium case as living proof.

But there are many more little details about the Surface Pro 3 that make it a better choice than a standard laptop and one of the them is the Connected Standby support.

According to Microsoft, the Surface Pro 3 wakes up extremely fast, so if you need to start working very fast or to simply write down something on the tablet, you don't have to wait more than half a second.

“Pro 3 is a Connected Standby system, it will wake up in half a second. If you do not touch the system for more than 4 hours, it will go to hibernate, and then deep sleep to go to single digit miliwatts. At that point it will take longer, like a Pro 2 coming out of hibernate,” a Surface team member recently explained.

The Surface Pro 3 is Microsoft's largest tablet to date, featuring a 12-inch screen which Redmond claims could replace the traditional laptop. It obviously runs the full version of Windows 8.1 and boasts state-of-the-art hardware, such as Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 processors, 4 or 8 GB of RAM, and up to 512 GB of storage space.
