Microsoft has recently unveiled a brand new accessory for the Surface tablet that’s supposed to provide enhanced battery life and new connectivity options to buyers.

The docking station comes with 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, a Mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, Audio In, Audio Out and power connectors, thus making the Surface a much more advanced tablet.

The connection between the Surface and the docking station is made through the same magnetic connectors previously used by the Touch and Type Covers, so you only need to slide in the device and you’re done.

“With the Docking Station for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 can be the first device that is a tablet, a laptop, AND a high-powered workstation,” Microsoft explained. “Docking Station for Surface Pro lets you quickly click-in and connect, turning your device into a full workstation.”

Microsoft hasn’t yet unveiled pricing for the docking station, but more details are likely to be unveiled on October 22 when the second-generation Surface is projected to go on sale.
