We wanted a more beautiful experience in browser, they say

Microsoft has rolled out redesigns for the OneDrive app on the majority of platforms, so an improved UI for the web-based version of the service doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Today, Redmond has announced that a new OneDrive look will be released this summer for users worldwide, while business customers should get it by the end of the year.

What’s new in this build? Pretty much everything, Microsoft says, adding that the visual tweaks announced today are rather subtle, so for instance, the fonts have been slightly enhanced to look better in the browser, the color palette has been expanded, while the service overall has been improved to look better on devices of all sizes.

“Our brand color is a well-established #234fa2, so we started there and worked up a full set of complimentary tonal grays with a few accents. We did a deep accessibility pass, made a few adjustments, and arrived at the color palette you see in the product today. It’s a well-balanced set of colors, that brings a refreshing, creative energy to the OneDrive UI,” Microsoft goes on to add about colors in the new OneDrive UI.

The new look of OneDrive is expected to become available for consumers in late July, when Windows 10 comes out officially, as Microsoft is apparently planning a whole new batch of announcements for July 29, in addition to the new operating system.

In the meantime, those who want to want to access the cloud storage service can download OneDrive for Windows Phone, for iOS, or for Android here.
