Now that Microsoft is ready to start shipping the second-generation Surface tablet, the company has decided to extend its trade-in offer for the device, in an attempt to convince more Apple customers to try out its products.

Microsoft launched an iPad trade-in offer in September, with the company planning to end the $200 (€150) campaign on October 27.

The arrival of the Surface 2, however, might have changed Microsoft’s plans, so Redmond is now extending the trade-in scheme to December 31.

WPCentral is reporting that iPhones and iPad owners will get the same $200 voucher if they decide to give up on their Apple devices and buy a Microsoft product, be it a tablet, a phone, or a piece of software.

The software giant will start shipping the second-generation Surface today, so in case you’re planning to buy a new Microsoft tablet, this could be the right moment to do it.
