Windows XP support is coming to an end very soon, but recent reports have suggested that some users could delay the move to a new operating system until the new Windows 9 comes out.

In a statement for ZDNet, Jay Paulus, director at Windows Commercial, explained that all users should move to a secure and supported operating system as soon as possible and not wait for a future release.

"There's always a new release. We're always working on the next version. As soon as we ship one, of course we are working on the next version. I don't think people are confused by that — I hope that they're not because that shouldn't be a reason to wait," he said.

Windows 9 is expected to launch in early 2015, with Microsoft said to prepare an announcement for April 2014 at the BUILD developer conference.
