Microsoft is trying to bring more devices to the market and rumor has it that smaller tablets are also under development right now.

It turns out, however, that Redmond is actually working on something rather unexpected. Outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer revealed during the Gartner Symposium ITXpo that an 82-inch device running Windows 8 is actually in the works right now, but he refused to reveal any other specifics.

"It looks great on a wall, but isn't very portable," he was quoted as saying by ZDNet.

In the meantime, Microsoft continues its struggle to fully embrace devices and services, especially because the company will soon get a new CEO that’s said to continue Ballmer’s vision. At this point, Ford’s CEO Alan Mulally and former Nokia boss Stephen Elop are the leading candidates to take over from Ballmer.
