Cloud services are becoming a lot more important for tech giant Microsoft, so the company is planning to build two new centers in Australia specifically aimed at this kind of products.

The Windows Azure business is expected to be expanded with the addition of two new data centers established in New South Wales and Victoria.

"These two locations will be geo-redundant, offering our customers the ability to back up their data across two separate locations, both within Australia," Toby Bowers, Microsoft Australia's Server & Tools Group Lead, explained..

"We know that providing disaster recovery, while ensuring data sovereignty goals are met, is critical to many of our customers."

Microsoft is already betting big on cloud services, and just like some voices familiar with the matter point out, the company is planning to make this industry sector a priority in the near future with even more new products, including a subscription based Windows service.
