Even though outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer said a couple of months ago that no employees would get fired as part of the company’s transition to devices and services, it turns out that several editors from the MSN news and entertainment portal will be let go in the next couple of months.

Reuters is reporting that Microsoft has already confirmed the job cut, but the company has apparently refused to provide any specifics regarding the number of people to be fired.

Sources close to the matter, on the other hand, reveal that approximately 100 members of the staff will leave as part of the reorganization, even though it’s not yet clear whether the tech giant is also looking to cut more jobs into other departments as well.

Surprisingly, Microsoft has recently revamped the MSN portal after the Windows 8 launch, thus bringing it in line with the modern design of the operating system.

We’re yet to hear from Microsoft on this particular topic, but expect more details to be unveiled soon as the transition to devices and services continues.
