Microsoft will soon launch the second-generation Surface RT, as the company will be holding a new press conference in New York on September 23 specifically focused on tablet news.

While the company hasn’t provided us with any details on the device, it turns out that Microsoft is planning to install a full HD display in the second-generation Surface RT, according to an analyst speaking to CNET.

“What we’re seeing is that it’s 1920x1080,” DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim was quoted as saying.

This would pretty much allow the Surface RT to compete against the likes of iOS and Android, with Microsoft also improving the productivity side of the unit.

Previous reports indicated that the Surface RT could come with a Tegra 4 processor and 4 GB of RAM, while a two-position kickstand would come in handy in both landscape and portrait modes.
