Microsoft will report FY2014 Q2 earnings on January 23, with analysts expecting the Redmond-based tech giant to reveal another strong quarter, as the company continues the transformation to devices and services.

According to a report by ValueWalk, the cloud business is said to be one of the main catalysts for Microsoft’s growth recorded lately, which could be another indication that the next CEO could come from this particular department.

Microsoft is also expected to provide more details on the CEO search by the end of the month, with sources familiar with the matter pointing out that cloud boss Satya Nadella is the front-runner for the leading seat.

A recent report indicated that Steve Ballmer and his fellow executives could resign from Microsoft once a new CEO is found, but the company is yet to issue a comment on this.
