Microsoft is expected to officially unveil the second-generation Surface tablet on September 23 during a NYC event, but the company has remained completely tight-lipped on the tech bits of the new device.

Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller told the Examiner in an interview that Microsoft is expected to invest “millions of dollars” to promote the Surface Pro 2, this time trying to focus more on the technical aspects of the tablet and less on dancing and other advertisements that show almost nothing about devices.

Ads will start to roll out across North America on September 24, the analyst said, as sales are expected to begin soon after the public unveiling.

As far as tech specs are concerned, word is that the second-generation Surface Pro is likely to feature an Intel i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM. A two-position kickstand is also expected to be released, and so is a new Power Cover accessory that comes with a built-in battery for extended battery lifetime.
