The new version of Miranda instant messaging software does not show too many changes. There are no new features added, only bug fixes for two protocols: Yahoo and Jabber. The previous update squashed bugs relating to AIM protocol.

Yahoo-related repairs eliminated a bug that would interrupt compressed connections. With Jabber, trouble was of a different sort and affected file transfers.

Some issues still have to be fixed, though, since one user reported having trouble with status set in Miranda displayed differently in other instant messaging clients.

Miranda is a versatile instant messenger that brings to the table a plethora of IM protocols, among which Facebook, AIM, ICQ, IRC and MSN. You have a wide choice of plugins and icons to customize and extend its functionality. During the installation procedure you can choose to go with portable mode and thus save all configuration to its own folder.

Windows users can download Miranda from this page.
