Microsoft might be left all alone in the tablet OS fight against iOS and Android, as most of its partners are unwilling to continue development of devices based on its own Windows RT platform.

A report, published by Digitimes and citing Taiwan-based supply chain makers, claims that Asus, Dell, Samsung, and Lenovo are very disappointed with Windows RT device sales until now, so they are highly unlikely to develop any other tablets running this particular OS.

Asus, on the other hand, has already announced that it’s ready to give up on Windows RT, as the platform has not been very successful, as company representatives said.

What’s more, Acer president Jim Wong confirmed that his company wanted to focus more on Android and Chrome OS, as they both represent a great opportunity in the tablet market.
