Don’t take this for granted, but it appears that Microsoft is working on a new affordable phone model that could be launched on emerging markets in the coming months.
NPU spotted a total of five different low-end devices on the FCC website and pointed out that all of them seem to be just versions of the same phone that could hit the shelves to help Microsoft get more in the budget smartphone business.
Details regarding RM-1068, RM-1070, RM-1071, RM-1032, and RM-1034 are unavailable right now, but the source notes that they are very likely to come with a 4-inch screen and measuring 118.1 x 64.7 mm in size.
While this doesn’t say much about these phones, it appears that their size will be very similar to the one of Lumia 530, which measures 119.7 x 62.3 mm and which is already selling like hot cakes in several countries.
As far as technical specifications are concerned, things are again very unclear right now, but it appears that both the RM-1068 and RM-1032 come with dual-SIM support, while all the other three devices work with just a single SIM card.
Absolutely all these devices lack LTE support, which is probably the main indication that Microsoft is tackling the low-end smartphone business with all of them.
