It is a security update, but stability fixes have also been thrown in

Opera just updated their browser to version 11.52. The new release has one main purpose, and that is to plug a hole in the application that would allow execution of arbitrary code by manipulating fonts in SVG.

The severity of the vulnerability is critical and all Opera users are urged to update to the latest version in order to foil any malicious attempts on their system.

Opera security researchers were aware of this vulnerability (which applied to version 11 of the app) since April, but they could not demonstrate the exploit in their tests at that time.   However, as new releases of the browser rolled out, someone managed to modify the SVG and opened the door for the latest editions of the browser to be exploited.

Besides eliminating the font manipulation in SVG vulnerability, Opera 11.52 also comes with a set of stability enhancements.
