The New York Times is clearly one of the best newspapers in the world and, thanks to its Metro client, Windows 8 and 8.1 adopters can read news right in the Modern UI of their tablets.

In addition, a recently-launched promo makes it possible for everyone to get unlimited access to all articles using the Windows 8 app, all without paying a single cent. The unlimited access includes content from “special sections like the New York Times Magazine on Sundays, special-edition T Magazine and the Sunday Book Review,” Microsoft explained.

There is a catch though. Here's what you need to do if you want to receive 30 days of premium content free of charge.

“Users must officially subscribe, including providing credit card information, to receive the free trial. The subscription will automatically renew after 30 days – so users must proactively cancel their subscription to avoid being charged if they decide they don’t want to continue with the subscription,” Microsoft says.

Overall, this is clearly a good promo, so download the New York Times app for Windows 8.1 right now to take advantage of the deal.
